At the 50th Annual National Frame Building Association (NFBA) Conference and Expo in Nashville, two projects using ABC materials were named 2016 NFBA ‘Building of the Year’ award winners during the NFBA Awards Luncheon held on March 19, 2017. The awards included first place in the Hobby Shops (Master’s Division) category and second place in the overall Master’s Division category.
First Place | Hobby Shops – Master’s Division
Quality Structures, Inc (QSI) utilized ABC’S Energy Star qualified 29-gauge metal roof (Burnished Slate) and wall (Clay) panels to construct the Meyer Truck Center in Spring Hill, KS. This 9,520-sq. ft. building won first place in the Hobby Shops category within the Master’s Division of the contest and was built as a garage/ show room for racing vehicles with added office space.
Second place | Master’s Division
ABC also provided QSI with our Energy Star qualified 29-gauge metal roof (Burnished Slate) and wall (Clay) panels which were used to build a 3,956-sq. ft. private residence in Viola, KS. This single-story, three-bedroom home with an attached three-car garage, a loft above the kitchen and an additional work room won first place in the Hobby Shops category within the Master’s Division of the contest and was built as a garage/ show room for racing vehicles with added office space.

ABOUT THE NFBA BUILDING OF THE YEAR PROGRAM:
The NFBA Building of the Year contest consists of 24 award categories plus a Judges’ Award. To qualify for consideration, the building must have been designed and erected in a safe manner and utilize post-frame construction in a minimum of 50 percent of the building structure. Buildings must have been completed between December 1, 2015 – December 1, 2016, and have an erector/ contractor who is a current NFBA member builder.
