We’ve just closed the first quarter of 2019, and I am pleased to share that our focus on operational excellence is yielding positive results and helping us improve your American Building Components (ABC) experience from quoting to delivery. And, while market volatility continues to pose challenges to our industry, we remain committed to doing all we can to help you proactively mitigate any potential impact on your businesses and projects. We’re doing this by focusing on things we can control—quality, service and continuous improvement.

To ensure we’re working on what’s most important to you, we rely on the survey responses you provide through our Voice of the Customer (VOC) program. This candid feedback is essential to helping us understand your needs, so we can focus on delivering your products on-time and in full while providing you with exceptional service. We appreciate your continued participation in this program. If you have any suggestions at any time, please reach out to me or any member of the ABC team.

Through the aforementioned VOC program, we’ve learned that bettering our response times and service levels is important to you. To address this, we are working behind the scenes to develop an upgrade to our order processing system that will:

  • Simplify our business processes
  • Improve our speed and accuracy
  • Enhance communication
  • Enable us to widen our product offering over time

We expect to transition to the upgraded system this summer. Stay tuned for more details!

An important part of improving your ABC experience is the continued enhancement of our online ordering tool. In addition to helping you quickly find product information, create quotes with accurate pricing and place orders anytime, anywhere, the recent upgrades help you use the tool even more efficiently. These time-saving enhancements include the ability to:

  • Change the color, length, gauge, thickness, etc. of multiple quote items at once
  • Order complete building assemblies (panels, trim, fasteners, sealants, etc.) to ensure you get all the material you need without having to add items to your cart one at a time
  • Copy and merge previously-created quotes, templates and/or orders that you can easily modify to meet your specific project needs
  • And much more …

Lastly, in November 2018, our parent company, NCI Building Systems, finalized a merger with Ply Gem Building Products—a leader in the residential building industry. We are excited to announce that—as of April 11, 2019—the combined parent company has been named ‘Cornerstone Building Brands’, now the largest manufacturer of exterior building products in North America servicing both the residential and commercial markets. While this merger opens up many opportunities for ABC to provide enhanced product and service offerings to you, it doesn’t affect how you do business with us today.
